Today, a colleague embarked on a journey dubbed "Periscope". It's a journey where deprived communities are visited to volunteer and help in a small way and also share their stories online(here).
Ishmael Adjei Abrampa visited "Akokoa, a community located in Ekuapim - Eastern Region. He volunteered to teach in a community school which happens to be the only furnished and well equipped school.

The Akokoa community school has many interventions to make this new term a better one for their pupils. Some of these interventions includes: free feeding, free tuition and many more.
Our colleague Ishmael has experiences to share. "I have volunteered for seven years and I kid you not, this is the best voluntary activity I've done. I have felt what teachers go through, expecially those here. I took the children through basic things like two letter words, spelling of words and a bit of mathematics. It was never easy. Majority of these children forget what I taught within a split second and had to revisit it again. At a point, I lost my voice because some were dozing off, others were talking and peeping outside through the windows. I had to draw their attention using music and other mechanism. In all it was a memorable experience, will surely visit again".
This was driven by passion to trigger change and hasten progress in society. You have what it takes to cause change. Go now!
The journey was supported by kind courtesy, Joseph Quaye Amoo - Curious Minds.
