...Are their Talents and Dreams going to be a Waste?

A dream; to many is a series of images occurring in a person's mind when asleep. But hey, what you think of achieving within a specific time is also a dream. we dream base on what we see in society and activities we engage in, and also the talents we have. Dreams could be true or bad and could be realistic depending on actions taken, whether to protect and build it,or let it go waste.

Growing as a girl child, my dream was to be a pilot and work more with children. This beautiful dream changed along side because I realized the passion is no more and  always have a dizzy feeling when I stand on anything to gain height, I still love to be with children though. And now; I have a new dream, guess! I want to be a nurse who will get closer to children, help build and protect their dream and talents.

Children from Anakum village.
Children are the most valuable and worthy gift given to us by God. They are the best human resource we can build upon, empower and encourage to create change in the world as they grow. Education we say is the key to success, and it is the right of children to enjoy and have good education and treatment from society. It goes beyond feeding and clothing, it involves their participation in discussions that will build their dream and talent, protect and cue their path, considering their best interest. Yet, children of "Anakum" and its surrounding communities in the Wassa Amenfi District - Western Region, find their dreams and talents wasted since they don’t enjoy being in school due to inadequate facilities and  poor school infrastructure, making education seem to be a form of punishment to them. To some children who trek for hours, covering a distance of over 4km each morning just to get to school each day, such a problem has rather encouraged them to drop out of school. This has been the root cause of high rate in teenage pregnancy, early parenthood, illiteracy, as well poverty in the community. How do we achieve demographic dividend as a country? Looking at these children, I see a lot of uniqueness, great potentials and power to change their community and the world as a whole.

Robert Sarfo (Lil Wayne).
Meet Robert Sarfo, popularly known as Lil Wayne who is some where in the village. His dream is to become a film actor like the Kumahood star, Kojo Nkansah also known as Lil Wayne. How do we support him to reach his full potential?

I keep asking myself; "are these talents, potentials and uniqueness going to be WASTE? Children are the world and the future. Time never wait for children to cry nor smile, the time to touch lives is now!
Children are the powerful force for change.
