Periscope! #3

Today on periscope (a tour bringing you stories about children and development), I met Amindatu Anass, a pupil of Nungua Lekma 1 school who is currently in JHS 1. She shared a story on how her first two weeks in school has been since the new term began.

"My first two weeks in school have been very busy as we write our promotional exams which we were supposed to write in Primary Six; that is, last term. We have not been provided with the list of books our parents are to buy for us in our new class. Therefore, my mother has not made any new preparation for me. Due to this, I am in my old school uniform and will still be using my old exercise books in my new class. Each student received 2 new exercise books from the government. Though it is not enough, I will manage and add to my old exercise books. I pray my mom buys me new books when she gets the money".
Amindatu went ahead to share some plight she's facing as a girl and on behalf of her mates.
"Hmm; my school, since I was enrolled years ago has not changed, non of the facilities have been renovated. I wish the broken desks in my class will be changed for us because most of my friends fall heavily and get hurt. The lavatories in my school have been locked and they are not functioning anymore, students always have to pay with their own money to use the nearby public toilet when the need arises.
Also, when it's time for my monthly flow, I have no better place to change my sanitary pad. I make sure I get back home before changing it".
Aside all these, Amindatu wished the School Feeding Program which benefits students at the primary level, could be extended to her level(JHS) so she can have food to eat if her mother has no money.
