Eid-Ul-Fitr Celebration in Accra.

Shot of Muslims Praying.
Festival is an occasion where people, especially children come into contact with their customs.  It is a platform to learn more from the leaders and aged.  Occasions like Eid - Ul - Fitr brings Muslim colleagues from all walks of life together and also explore culture.  Eid - Ul - Fitr is one major festival, celebrated to climax the 29 - 30 days of dawn - sunset fasting during the month of Ramadan.

Speaking at the gathering to commemorate the festival at the Black Star Square, was  President John Dramani Mahama, who  urged parents to make the development of children a priority and know what is best for them at a particular time.  "We have seen instances where very learned and academic Muslim youth abandoned their education due to terrorist propaganda". He said.  The president again encouraged the youth to flee from violence, and not to be used as vessels for war during and after election.

But come to think of it; how do we ensure that every child is safe during occasions like this?  The joyous feeling the occasion comes with, gets some young people carried away and engage in various activities that will reap society zero benefits.
Samiya and Siblings.

Samiya, who's a mother, has a different opinion.
"I am a single parent who can't watch my four children go hungry even though am jobless. I take opportunities like this to beg for arms from my Muslim friends.  Precise, it is a period of giving and supporting the needy.  I know I will get enough support by the close of the day, to cater for my family".
She pleaded with government to extend a helping hand.

Festivals are not meant to make war, think about adults and forget children, give out girls for marriage, or hurt any child.
Its a call to unite and fight for children's right and also ensure they develop.

Happy Eid - Ul - Fitr.
