Africa is the mother of many children and
am proud to be one of hers. Africa as a continent has the second largest
population, the longest river in the world is located in it. I don't want to go
further to tell you all about Africa and its people; I may not complete it all.
On May 25 each year in Africa, Africans
celebrate Africa Day. This day commemorates the founding of the Organization of
African Unity, OAU now known as the African Union; AU. It aims to celebrate the
unity between Africans. Aside its main purpose, the day serves as an
opportunity for reconciliation between
sister countries and citizens.

On this day, Africans display their
tradition and culture. Somewhere in Ghana, the day brought smiles on the faces
of children and hope for future. They [Children] dressed in their

I sampled views of some children on what
they know about the celebration. It came out loud and clear that, they don't
know much about AU day yet they join the troop to celebrate. And even wish
everyday could be AU day. What matters to these young ones is the joy the day
comes with, the love and care to help them develop, and above all; their voice
that needs to be heard.
I reckon that this celebration will be
different from the previous celebration. Let's throw the challenge to ourselves
and push for young people's agenda. Frustration has taken the better part of
some lives, a smile is far from reached. The time to set the pace for
development is now.
Happy #AU Day.
