HALT THE RISE; BEAT DIABETES. WORLD HEALTH DAY.

The medical literature tells us that; the most effective ways to reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and many more problems are through healthy diet and exercise. Our bodies have evolved to move, yet we now use the energy in oil instead of muscles to do our work.

In the year 1948, on 7 April; the World Health Organization (WHO) was formed after the birth of the United Nations in 1945, as a global health institution to champion the course of saving lives. It was then decided that, this anniversary should be marked to educate people on important global health issues. The first World Health Day was in 1950 and, since then, it has spread awareness on everything from food safety to blood pressure. The day is also a celebration of the World Health Organisation and their good work.

Today marks another celebration with a focus of calling for action on diabetes. In the first global report on diabetes, WHO highlights the need to steep up prevention and treatment of diseases.
Aside creating awareness, the overall goal of this year's celebration is to increase awareness about the rise in diabetes, and it's staggering burden. And also trigger a set of specific, effective and affordable actions to tackle diabetes. This will include steps to prevent diabetes and diagnose, treat and care for people with diabetes.

Study shows that, children are at increasing risk of developing the disease. Over time, diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves - causing chronic problems and early death. The economic contribution these young ones have for Africa is then washed away.

This is pathetic but we can press the default button and change the settings. It's not only the work of WHO or a health personnel, your little efforts put together makes a mighty change. Join the campaign and mark the day.
